Our September Husky Recognition Rally was held on Friday, October 1st. We recognized a number of students during the rally, including our students that competed at the State Fair Academic Contents as we had a number of our students place. We also recognized many of our Seniors for their level of achievement on the ACT last spring. We had 8 students with a composite score of 23 or higher, which is outstanding!

The students of the month were announced and recognized during the rally. Teachers and staff members nominate students who best demonstrate any of the 4 SRC pillars- integrity, innovation, accountability, or service. These students received a certificate, a SOM t-shirt, and lunch on the principal. Congratulations to these students on their outstanding accomplishments!

The monthly PBiS drawing was also held during the rally. We had a total of 161 Positive Paws given out this past month. Middle school students received a gift card to Cubby’s. The high school winners earned a BARK Park spot. Congratulations to all the students who are doing great things inside and outside of the classroom!

September Students of the Month

Meet our students of the month and what their teachers had to say about each of them.

6th- Madison Augustin

This student was nominated for integrity, innovation, and service. In our 6th Explore and 6th English classes, she is always the first student to try something new and ask for feedback. She challenges herself and others to do their best and work beyond expectations. She is helpful and kind to other students and the teacher.  She has volunteered to help Braxton get to Music class after Advisory.  She participates well in-class activities and is a very trustworthy and honest student.  She has been a great addition to SRC!

7th- Urijah Grant

This student was nominated for integrity and accountability. Urijah is one student on whom I can depend to always put forth his best effort when it comes to school. He takes great pride in anything he does. He holds himself accountable in making sure he completes assignments is prepared for assessments. He is great with other students and is always honest and trustworthy.

8th- Danica Watts

This student has continually demonstrated the pillars of integrity and accountability. She works her tail off every day in everything she does. She comes to weights most every morning and she lifts in class. She works hard in PE every day and truly is determined to get better every single day. She is a true leader in the 8th grade. She always has a positive attitude in class and is willing to help others whenever it is needed, asks questions for clarification, and encourages others to monitor their own behavior. She is a joy to have in class!

9th- Nicole Martensen

This student was nominated for integrity and accountability. She has missed a fair number of 8th period classes each week because of softball, however, she is always on top of things and makes sure she knows what is going on in class and gets any work done the same day she has games. It would be really easy to fall behind due to the number of classes she has missed, but instead, she is always caught up and makes sure she touches base with me to know exactly what she may miss. She shows tremendous accountability as she is committed to her studies but also to her teammates, and wants to put forth her best every day.

10th- Jesus Perez

This student is being nominated for integrity and accountability. He has jumped right into being an SRC Husky! He is extremely polite and respectful. Every single day before he leaves he tells me to have a great rest of my day. It's very refreshing. He works extremely hard in class and is always very attentive during lectures and discussions. He works well with others and always completes his assignments with high quality and in a timely manner. We are happy to have a part of our Husky family!

11th- Payton Sliva

This student demonstrates the pillars of integrity, service, and accountability. He has been a reliable student which is the definition of what our SRC Pillars are. He has helped keep his classmates accountable and on task. Payton also shows up and gives 100% to everything he does, regardless of the day of the week. He has certainly gone through a tough setback recently, however, that has not deterred him from continuing to show up and just doing the work. He has shown tremendous perseverance, and his determination is second to none.

12th- Fischer White

Accountability, service, and integrity are pillars that this student demonstrates on a daily basis. He is great to have in class. He is always positive and gives his best effort in everything he does. He helps other students and is always positive.  He holds himself and his classmates accountable to get done what they need to.  He is also very polite to everyone and that is so great to see. He has always done a great job of giving 100% in everything he does. He goes above and beyond and is involved in all extracurricular activities. He is always willing to help when needed.
