The November Husky Recognition Rally was held on Wednesday, December 1st. A number of students were recognized during the rally including our Believers and Achievers local recipients, Fall Academic All-State recipients, and our One Act team, as a number of members have received acting awards throughout the season. Congratulations to all these students on their outstanding accomplishments and success!

The November Students of the Month were announced and recognized during the rally. Teachers and staff members nominated students who best demonstrate any of the 4 SRC pillars- Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, or Service. These students received a certificate, a SOM t-shirt, and Lunch on the Principal. Congratulations to each of these students for demonstrating what it means to be a Husky!

The monthly PBiS drawing was also held during the rally. We had a total of 119 Positive Paws given out this past month. The middle school students received the most with 98. Middle school students received a gift card to Cubby’s. The high school winners earned a BARK Park spot for the month of November. Congratulations to all the students who are doing great things inside and outside of the classroom!

November Students of the Month

Meet our students of the month and the nominations each student received.

6th- Jordie Schindel

This student is being nominated on the pillars of Integrity and Accountability. She does well in class and has a positive and bubbly personality. She is always willing to help a classmate and participates well in class. She stays up on her studies and is a joy to be around. She is always polite and respectful with anyone she encounters. She is certainly a leader in the 6th grade class.

7th- Yerlin Hernandez

This student has been nominated for demonstrating all 4 pillars- Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Service. I've been very proud of her this year. She stays up-to-date on her assignments, asks questions when she doesn't understand, and advocates for herself. She uses technology to her advantage and her level of focus in class has been a big reason for her great start. She is diligent in her studies and brings a good attitude to school every day.  She is willing to take risks and try new things (like basketball). She is also willing to help other learners. She is always such a hard worker in class! I have seen great growth since the beginning of school in her academics, as well as being more willing to speak up in class.  She also does a great job serving as a translator for her peers, making sure they always understand what is going on. She is always very kind and polite to classmates and staff.

8th- Kreyten Zimmerman

This student is being nominated for the pillars of Integrity and Accountability. He is a leader in the 8th grade class. He works hard to make sure that he is always prepared for class. He is always willing to help others understand things when they have questions.  He is kind and polite to classmates and staff alike. He does a great job in class and in his activities. He puts his best effort into everything he does and it shows in his results. He's got a great sense of humor that makes it easy to work with and be around.

9th- Taya Pinneo

This student has demonstrated the pillars of Integrity, Service, and Accountability. She holds herself to a high standard in the classroom. She isn't satisfied with a passing grade, instead holding herself accountable to a higher level of understanding. In the process, she encourages her classmates to strive for more, always with a positive attitude. Outside of class, she is involved in many activities and has already stepped into leadership roles even as a freshman. She is young and ambitious and represents our school well.

10th- Gavin Ohnemus

This student has been nominated for the pillars of Accountability and Service. He does a tremendous job with the content covered in my class. He is always active in our class discussions and provides real-world examples and experiences to enhance our discussions. He was absent for surgery for a couple of weeks and did a great job staying caught up and jumping right back into where we were when he returned. He is involved with many activities and organizations at SRC and is a great representative of our school! He has shown great accountability throughout the One-act season; continuing to learn his lines and work on his characterization during his absence, navigating the stage and setting with crutches and a leg brace.  He has continued to show up and show out regardless of his injury. He is a real team player.

11th- Cohen Callahan

This student has demonstrated the pillars of Integrity and Accountability. He is a friendly face in the hallways and works hard in the classroom. He asks questions when he needs help and is a good role model in the classroom. He always gives me his best. He is rarely behind in his studies and brings his A-game to every class. He has really impressed me this year. He shows me every day that he is accountable as he comes in right away and gets to work. He will ask for help when he needs it and he is willing to help others. If he knows he has an assignment missing, he will get right to work to get it done. He also does a good job of being accountable when comes to preparing for his assessments.

12th- Wendy Godejohn

This student has been nominated for all 4 pillars- Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Service.  She is a leader in the senior class and in all activities that she is involved in. In One-Act she has taken underclassmen under her wing to work with them outside of scheduled rehearsal times to help develop their characters. She also has contributed many ideas to blocking, lines, and character development for herself and others during rehearsals. She is willing to help with hair and makeup for any student who needs help. She takes the responsibility to make sure that our areas are cleaner than they were when we arrived at contests. The best part is that she has been this way since her Freshman year. She consistently welcomes challenges and always works hard to do her best! She has proven to be a prime example of an upper class-man. She offers good advice, not only to her peers but also to me. She leads by example during practice and performance. A generous actor that wants everyone to do their best because she sees the big picture and genuinely cares about our One-Act team.
