Our October Husky Recognition Rally was held on Friday, October 29th. The rally started with our YADA group providing a recap of Red Ribbon Week and announcing the door decorating winners. Congratulations to Mrs. Wilton’s and Mrs. Blackburn’s Advisory!

We also celebrated the success of all of our students throughout the first quarter of the school year. Students in the middle school (Grades 6-8) passed every single class for the quarter! In all, for students in grades 6-12, only two classes were not passed for the quarter. Our students are being held accountable for their assignments and they are learning the standards. Congratulations to all of our students on an outstanding first quarter!

We also recognized our students for their outstanding achievement on the Spring NSCAS Growth assessment, which was taken by our 6-8 students in April. We recognized those students who met the CCR benchmark (exceeded the standards) in the areas of ELA and Math.

The October Students of the Month were announced and recognized during the rally. Teachers and staff members nominated students who best demonstrate any of the 4 SRC pillars- Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, or Service. These students received a certificate, a SOM t-shirt, and lunch on the principal. Congratulations to these students on their outstanding accomplishments!

The monthly PBiS drawing was also held during the rally. We had a total of 151 Positive Paws given out this past month. The middle school students received the most with 117! Middle school students received a gift card to Cubby’s. The high school winners earned a BARK Park spot for the month of November. Congratulations to all the students who are doing great things inside and outside of the classroom!

October Students of the Month

Meet our students of the month and what their teachers had to say about each of them.

6th- Garrett Ruth

This student was nominated for Integrity, Service, and Accountability. He is an awesome role model in the 6th grade class. He is always ready to learn something new and apply it. He completes high-quality work and never complains about the task at hand. The other day he helped me out a bunch by teaching another student who had been gone how to do something so that I could help the rest of the class with their questions that day. He is always very polite and respectful, which is greatly appreciated.

7th- Leah Whitmore

This student is being nominated on the pillars of integrity and accountability. She holds herself to the highest of standards in her classroom behavior and her work ethic. She is not afraid to ask for help when needed.  She also is willing to help others in class when they don't understand something. Her positive attitude is greatly appreciated both in and out of the classroom.

8th- Jessica Bauers

This student has been nominated for demonstrating the pillars of Service and Accountability. She has been a great addition to this class. She stays on top of her studies, even if gone from school. She participates well in the classroom and often can be seen assisting other students if they have questions or are struggling. She is respectful to those around her and leads by example.

9th- Dilber Gutierrez Lemus

I am nominating this student on the pillars of integrity, innovation, and accountability. Despite the challenges of learning a new language, he works hard to keep up in classes, using both English and Spanish to communicate. He has taught me ways to translate information for him and is willing to use technology to help him contribute to group work and collaborate with his peers. I am really impressed with his work ethic! Keep up the great work!

10th- Ethan Fjell

This student has been nominated for his Integrity. He has been a pleasure to have in class. He does his best to complete his work and participate in class. He also is just a kind young man who tries to encourage those around him to be their best selves. He is always willing to seek out extra help and make sure he is learning the material. If anything needs to be done, he is one of the first students to volunteer. Thank you for all you do!

11th- Angel Barnes

This student has been nominated for Service, Integrity, and Accountability. She is one of the most hardworking students I've ever had. She is so dedicated in everything she does, whether it's in the classroom, FBLA, or other activities she chooses to be involved in. She always gives her best and there's nothing more you can ask of someone than that. She has been very helpful with FBLA this year and I can always count on her to help out and get things done. In both classes that I have her, she is a diligent worker who always pushes hard to get her work done. She stands up for herself and works at encouraging those around her. She goes out of her way to make sure that her work is more than satisfactory.

12th- Carissa Schoenrock

This student was nominated for Integrity and Accountability. She has been phenomenal in the classroom this year and I am very proud of her softball honor as well. She is an incredibly hard-working and accountable student who brings her A-game every day! She participates in everything and puts in the extra time outside of class to be successful. She shows integrity by leading by example. A great role model for our students at S-RC!
