📢 BIG Update for Nebraska Substitute Teachers! 🌽
Becoming a substitute teacher in Nebraska just got a whole lot simpler. Thanks to the passing of the LB1022 amendment, we are excited to announce major changes to educator certification requirements!
🛑 What’s Changing?
Human Relations Training (HRT) is no longer required for substitute teaching permits. This applies to BOTH local and state substitutes.
📝 New Requirements at a Glance:
For Local Substitutes:
✅ Application & Fee
✅ Fingerprints (if applicable)
✅ Minimum 48 semester credit hours
Note: The 90-day restriction still applies, but you can request additional days!
For State Substitutes:
✅ Application & Fee
✅ Fingerprints (if applicable)
✅ Must hold (or have held) a Nebraska regular teaching certificate or an equivalent out-of-state certificate.
⏳ What this means for you:
The Nebraska Department of Education is currently updating their website and applications to reflect these changes. Best of all? Conditional requests for local subs missing an HRT course are no longer needed. Ready to get started?
🔗 Request Additional Days: https://www.education.ne.gov/local-substitute-teaching-permit-request-for-additional-days-form/
🔗 Certification Details: https://www.education.ne.gov/tcert/
